CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A mother and father are facing felony charges after doctors found their baby malnourished and in need of emergency hospitalization.

Cleveland Police Child Abuse Detectives have filed charges of child endangering against Donnuel and Keeana Huddleston.

The baby is now 11 months old. Cuyahoga County social workers have her and an older child from the family in foster care.

Records show the parents "minimize the seriousness of the child's medical condition," and "failed to provide her with adequate nutrition."

The family had been living on Cleveland's near west side.

Records also show the mom and dad did not get necessary follow-up medical care after the baby suffered a fractured skull during childbirth.

Social workers wrote in court papers that the baby had a significant weight gain in the hospital.

The father told 19 Action News that he considers the charges unfair. He says that he and the mother had taken the child to University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic and got conflicting evaluations of the baby.

Now mom and dad are facing felony charges.
