Raging Waves, Illinois largest waterpark, opened its heart and water slides to about 100 children and their families for the Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation Day at Raging Waves on August 1st.
Yorkville, Illinois (PRWEB) August 21, 2014
Raging Waves, Illinois largest waterpark, opened its heart and water slides to about 100 children and their families for the Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation Day at Raging Waves on August 1st. The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides support and assistance to children ages 7-17 who have lost a parent, legal guardian, or sibling to homicide.
We were honored to give these families a fun summer day, said Dan Mulka, Marketing Manager at Raging Waves. So many of them have overcome such difficult situations that we wanted to make sure they had a great time here with us.
The attendees came from Chicago and Chicagoland and had previously attended the Foundations camp experiences or were new to the organization. The Foundation plans annual family outings so families can connect with those who share their experience.
All the families were appreciative of the opportunity to come to Raging Waves, especially one family that has been with our Foundation since 2011, said Kristin Doyle, Director of Camps and Outreach. They were facing the anniversary of the loss of their mom that same week, and they said that having the opportunity to do something positive as a family to recognize the anniversary was very helpful to their healing.
The event marked the first ever event at Raging Waves but probably not the last. This year, we gave over 3,000 tickets to a plethora of worthy causes, said Mulka. We were happy to be able to help this Foundation that is doing so much good for so many children.
