Memorial Highways Honor Sacrifices of Fallen Marines

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (AP) - Stretches of two state highways in northeast Ohio have been renamed to pay tribute to fallen Marines from the region.

State Representative Lorraine Fende (FEHN'-dee), of Willowick, says the memorial highways will ensure that the men's sacrifices are never forgotten.

Drivers along Ohio Route 2 will see signs in Willoughby designating the Brian Montgomery Memorial Highway. The 26-year-old lance corporal was killed in August 2005 by small-arms fire in Iraq.

Nearby, a portion of state Route 44 will have signs for the Lance Corporal Andy Nowacki Memorial Highway. Nowacki was 24 when he died in Iraq in February of 2005.
