CPD fighting punishments for 'goofing off'

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Police supervisors recently disciplined by Chief Tom Streicher for allowing officers to goof off on the job are fighting their punishments.

An emergency meeting of the FOP grievance committee will be held on Friday morning, where the officers will make a plea to police brass.

Sergeant Eric Schneider was fired, and four others who apparently knew what was happening but did nothing to stop it, are being demoted. Sgt. Bryan Gabel has since resigned.

The supervisors appeared before the FOP grievance committee and asked an attorney for the FOP to represent them in an arbitration case.

FOP President Kathy Herald says arbitration will begin after the supervisors serve their 30 day suspensions. The arbitration process could take up to a year, she said.
