Felon To Be Key Witness In Ohio Arson Trial

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND (AP) - A felon who recorded a jail conversation is expected to be a key witness against an Ohio man accused of setting a house fire in 2005 that killed nine people, including eight children at a birthday sleepover.

Federal prosecutors in Cleveland are seeking the death penalty against Antun Lewis. They are expected to build their case with testimony from Marion Jackson.

The Plain Dealer reported Monday that Jackson has given investigators detailed information about the fire.

Defense attorneys say that Jackson recorded a conversation with Lewis about the fire in December 2005 at the Cuyahoga County Jail.

Defense attorneys say Lewis repeatedly has denied that he set the fire.

Jackson has been sentenced to prison six times, serving 15 years in the past 31 years.
